Many of us seek out cats at the local shelter for adoption. For most, this is a great way to find a loving companion, as well as it being a way to provide a home for a homeless animal. However, some people want to find a kitten through a breeder. While we see more problems with poorly bred dogs than with cats, you certainly want to take care in making sure your cat breeder is qualified.
It's best to seek out an experienced breeder, rather than one that bred the female cat out of convenience - or even by accident. The cat breeder should carefully screen both the female and male cats for physical and behavioral issues. Some cat breeders offer a health guarantee for their kittens - be sure to ask about this. When a breeder does this, you'll know their committed to the quality of their stock.
