General Info: The maltese is a small, companion
dog that is best known for its long, silky white coat.
Maltese show dogs have shiny, thick hair which is over
8" long and pure white. Their eyes look like little
black buttons. This is an extrodinarily sturdy dog for
it's size.
Temperament: It's hard not to love the maltese.
To go along with a beautiful coat and cute face, Maltese's
temperament can be described as lively and playful.
They are very gentle, highly intelligent, and 100% devoted
to their master. They pick up new tricks quickly, they
are very aware of suspicious noises, and they generally
to exteremely well around other animals. A brief word
of caution -- these dogs are often difficult to housebreak.
Because of their small size, most owners chose to paper
train their dog. Don't lose your patience with them
- they'll get the hang of it after a while.
Health: These are great little dogs. For the most part, they are quite sturdy. Be careful to keep them out of the sun,as their prone to sunburn. They need to be kept hydrated in the summer. Avoid damp areas and extreme weather. Keeping the maltese inside most of the time is the way to go. They are okay without a large yard. They enjoy regular walks and general frolicking.
