| Everyone knows the basics about parrots. The most recognizable parrots are those that are relatively large in size. However, many parrots are quite small as well. Parrots have beautiful colors ranging from red to green to grey to blue to yellow. They are proficient at saying words and small sentences, they can live very long lives and they make excellent companions. Parrots can be very expensive and may not be right for inexperienced owners. Parrots come in a variety of species such as the African Grey Parrot, the Quaker Parrot, the Eclectus Parrot and the Amazon Parrot. Owning a parrot is a significant commitment. Parrots are very intelligent pet birds that need a lot of attention, beyond the basic bird care of providing food, fresh water and a clean parrot cage. Parrot owners routinely spend in excess of an hour per day working with their parrot to keep its mind and body active. If you're willing to sign up for this time commitment, both on a daily basis and over as many at 20-30 years consider one of the many beautiful parrots! Back to Varieties of Bird |
